The renovation of our en-suite started on the 27th December and didn’t stop for 2 weeks. Sue and I moved into the other bedroom so that we didn’t have to clear the decks every morning. Michael, who was doing the work, was here at 8.20 every morning and we had to look bright eyed and bushy tailed. Fortunately the weather was mild and dry so that helped because he had set up his chop saw and some of his kit in the garage.
At the time of writing Michael has finished his work and we are off to choose a carpet tomorrow.

On the 3rd January Sue and I went to the Blunsdon Manor Hotel to meet up with a group of friends who were all in Rheindahlen at the same time. The hotel is centrally placed for all concerned and they put on an excellent buffet at a very reasonable rate.

We have had some wonderful weather of late, rather better than last year’s snow and ice. Sue and I have been out and about enjoying the fresh air along the coast and in the forest. Long may it last.
I am getting near to the end of scanning all the slides so here are couple more.

PS - For those of you who are/were in Germany do you remember Derek and Viv Ebbage? They were some of the survivors of the Costa Concordia. They were interviewed on the BBC news last night (16.1.12). You can see a clip of them on the BBC website.
